FAQ

Why do your nappies have two pocket openings?

Each nappy is made with two pockets because I personally find it easier to stuff nappies if I can just pull the inserts through. I also think there is nothing worse then trying to remove the insert from the back of the nappy when the opening has become covered with number 2's or 3's. Having the front opening allows you to able to cleanly extract the insert.

How many cloth nappies do I need?

This question is often asked for very good reasons. The number of nappies that is needed varies from family to family, this is because factors such as if you want to do cloth casual, part-time or full-time, how often you want to wash and the age of the baby/toddler plus how many children are in cloth. We have broken down the average number of nappies a baby will need via their age:

Newborn to 3 months

Newborns to around 3 months can use between 10 to 12 nappies a day. If you wanted to wash everyday, around 24 – 30 nappies would be needed to allow for drying time of the nappies. Every second day for washing would vary between 30 to 36 nappies.

3 to 6 months

3 month olds til 6 month olds can use between 8 to 10 nappies a day. If you wanted to wash everyday, around 16 – 20 nappies would be needed to allow for drying time of the nappies. Every second day for washing would vary between 24 to 30 nappies.

6 months onwards

From 6 months onwards the number of nappy changes can be between 6 to 8 nappies a day. If you wanted to wash everyday, around 12 – 16 nappies would be needed to allow for drying time of the nappies. Every second day for washing would vary between 18 to 24 nappies.

How do I store soiled nappies?

It is recommended to store soiled nappies in a dry pail – this is an open container/bucket which allows plenty of airflow. You can also use a wet bag for storage that is hanging off your change table for during the day and empty it into your open dry pail every evening. Our large wet bags are perfect for this exact purpose.

How often should I change a nappy?

It is recommended for health reasons to change nappies every 2-3 hours, or shortly after they have soiled it. This is to help prevent skin irritation from sitting in a wet nappy and wee combined with the bacteria contained within poo can lead to nappy rash.
